NEET is the primary entrance exam for MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses in India. It is conducted by the NTA and is mandatory for admission to government and private medical colleges.
Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
Exam Pattern: 180 MCQs (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
AIIMS conducts its own entrance exam for admission to its prestigious medical institutions. It is known for its high level of difficulty and extensive syllabus.
Eligibility: 10+2 with PCB and English
Exam Pattern: MCQs with negative marking
JIPMER used to have its own exam, but admissions are now conducted through NEET. It is one of India's top medical institutes.
FMGE is for Indian students who completed their medical education abroad and wish to practice in India.
Eligibility: Foreign medical degree
Passing Criteria: 50% marks
For postgraduate medical studies, candidates must appear for NEET-PG, AIIMS PG, or other specific entrance exams based on their specialization.
NEET is the most competitive, followed by AIIMS and JIPMER.
Some paramedical courses don’t require NEET, but MBBS and BDS admissions are only through NEET.
